I will be sharing 10 essential things you should have in your home office space and decor ideas below:
Home office ideas for freelancers and people working from home
A room with a door
Get a separate room in your home (preferably with a door) where you can work without being disturbed or constantly bumped into or distracted by other people in your home. If you live alone, then you might not need to worry about distractions.
You should probably get a room that’s not close to your bed so you won’t be tempted to sleep when you get tired.
If you don’t have a spare room, get a space in your sitting room/parlor that you can use for your home office.
Also, ensure the room is well-lit and has great ventilation. If possible, let the room be painted white. Because, white rooms have been known to foster productivity.
Desk with shelves, drawers, and storage units
To have a balanced work and personal life, organization and productivity are the first on the list of things to take note of.
Having the right desk will help make that a possibility. There are several desk types to choose from but ensure that when choosing the desk you want to use for your home office, you choose a desk that is wide enough to accommodate your laptop, your monitor (if you have one), and several other things you’d eventually put on the desk.
Also make sure your desk has drawers and storage units where you can put things you want to easily access while working.
You might get distracted if you keep standing up to get things while working, so make sure your desk has a storage unit where you can put the extra things you need in the process of working.
Ergonomic office chair
An ergonomic office chair is important for your body posture. If you don’t want to end up with an ache in your back, neck, and arm, then you should get an ergonomic chair.
Also, when getting this chair ensure you get the one with an armrest, leg rest (sometimes), neck rest, and with a mesh (for reducing sweat and discomfort).
Make sure you also set your chair right. If your chair is higher than your desk or laptop, you might have to strain your eyes or develop a neck ache.
Most ergonomic chairs come with adjustable features, so learn about them and fix your chair rightly.
The importance of a laptop stand is to help you set your laptop at eye level.
It will help you place your laptop in a position suitable for you which will prevent undue strain or ache.
Noise blocking headphones
For people working from home, concentration is usually the bane of our work, which is why noise blocking headphones are great.
When you use them, they will prevent outside noise that can be distracting from affecting your work.
If you want to listen to music while you work or just instrumentals, white noise, or nature sounds, you will be able to listen to them and concentrate on your work without any external interference.
