I’m on a journey to being the best I could ever be in life and it has been a tough journey.
I believe someone else feels this way and I am extending these 8 things to you, so you can know that you’re not alone in this journey.
Life might feel tough now but it’s a journey and someday you will reach your destination. Your decisions, never-give-up spirit, and mindset now will determine where the journey will lead you.
8 Things you Need to Know if You Want to Be Successful in Life
Do you want to be successful? Then you must know these 8 things.
Money is not important but you should make money
To be successful in life, you must learn not to prioritize making money, or else you will fail miserably and not reach your goal.
You must understand that it’s great to have money and to make money but having money does not mean you are successful.
There are several values you must have to be successful that you might not get if you are too focused on “money.”
To be successful, you need to learn the art of service, but if you value money more than service and commitment, you will find it hard to serve people if there’s no monetary reward.
Yet, the most important avenue for service and learning are those with little to no monetary reward.
Money is not success but success can buy you things money can not give you.
To achieve success, you cannot do it by having a heart greedy for money and material things.
You must learn other values while yearning for money.
It’s a hard pill to swallow, I know. But it will be worth it.
Now that you don’t have as much money as you want, you think money is the ultimate…
But when you do get the money, you will realize how fickle and not-so-important money can be.
You must do the work
One of the ultimate keys to success and greatness.
Do you know why we have so many poor and wretched people in the world today and why we will still have them in generations to come (no matter how much we try)?
Because not everybody is willing to do the work it takes to become rich/successful/great.
Trust me, the great and influential people you look up to today put in the work to get to where they are and they’re still working.
Truly, some of them might have it better than you do or come from better homes than yours, but one thing remains constant and unchanging.
The hard work.
To be successful, you must work hard.
Life will get harder at you the more you work but you must keep working.
If you don’t stop, you will be glad you didn’t.

Success is for the resilient
Life can be hard!
Life is not fair to anybody!
Life will not treat you specially! You cannot bribe life to get what you want.
You must follow its principles.
No matter what you need to do in life. There are principles. And only those who have hacked the principles can win at life.
One of the principles is Resilience.
It is the flexibility, the pliability. The art of bouncing back from difficulties. The strength to keep going even when there’s no strength.
When life comes at you unexpectedly or when all your hard work goes unnoticed or unrewarded, resilience is what keeps you going and stops you from giving up.
Resilience is what keeps you consistent. It is what keeps you going and keeps you working even when you’re not sure anything good will come out of it.
You must be resilient.

It’s okay for things not to go your way
Things don’t always go our way!
You’re probably at a stage in your life where it seems nothing is going your way at all.
You’re probably angry at yourself and everyone else and you’re looking for whom to blame for your predicament.
But, don’t be hard on yourself. It’s just life.
Things don’t always go our way. So, be prepared for it.
Many people want what you want. So, when you don’t get it, it could be that it’s not yet your turn or someone else has worked harder and gotten it.
So, instead of feeling sorry for yourself or beating yourself up, take a rest if you want to, then get to work again.
Life doesn’t always go our way but one day it will and you will hardly remember the days it didn’t go your way.
You must believe in yourself
Nobody will believe in you as much as you can believe in yourself, no matter how much they love you.
So, root for yourself. Believe in yourself.
Go the extra mile for yourself. Invest in yourself.
Talk about yourself. Talk about your skills, talents, and values to people who need to hear them.
Don’t keep quiet or get shy about yourself.
If you don’t root for yourself, no one will.
You have to take risks
Take a risk, if you win, you will be happy.
We don’t always win every time we take a risk, but we will be glad if we do. Even if we don’t, we will be glad we took a chance on ourselves and next time, we will be bold to take another risk.
If you want to be successful in life, you must take a risk.
Take a risk in sending that job application. Take a risk in learning that skill with your hard-earned or borrowed money. Take a risk in starting that business even though you’re not sure anyone will patronize you.
Take a risk in putting out your content on your social media platforms even though you don’t know if anyone will engage.
The more you take risks, the closer you are to the opportunity of a lifetime.
Great people are risk-takers.
Don’t let your circumstances define your state of mind
There are times in life when you feel unhappy, depressed, sad, and all sorts of negative feelings.
But I have realized that they are just feelings and if we take a second to change the way we think or what we’re thinking about, this could change the way we feel.
We can change the way we feel by what we think. It might seem hard but it’s simpler than you think.
So, change your thoughts. Have a better outlook on situations.
You will have a better life that way.
Don’t let temporary circumstances that can change in a flick of a finger affect your whole life or cause you to make life-changing decisions when you’re feeling down.
Find what makes you happy
Like you have seen in the other things you need to know to be successful, life is not a bed of roses and fun.
But one thing you can do that will make you seem unfazed about the troubles of life is to find what makes you happy.
For me, my dreams are reignited when I look at the sky.
It could be the sunrise, sunset, clouds, or the moon and stars.
Whenever I look up, whenever I talk to God, or whenever I catch the glimpse of nature; maybe a beautiful blossoming tree, flowers, the sea, or the wind rushing on my face.
I feel a sense of hope. I find strength. I feel stronger.
I believe (suddenly) that tomorrow will be better and I should wait for it.
For you, it could be anything else. It could be music, movies, friends, God, or when you sing…
Whatever it may be, find it and hold on to it.
It will be your solace on days when you’re sad, dejected, confused, and on the verge of giving up.
What is that thing that gives you hope when you feel down or overwhelmed? What is that thing you find solace in when it seems life is against you? Let me know in the comments!
