The Bridge To Knowing Jesus

   Remember, in the last message,  the lonely, we talked about a friend who can understand, who can heal all wounds. Now, we will talk about getting to know that friend. Why?
Take for instance,  you just met a friend today,  and you seem really drawn to each other the first day,  you chat,  you smile and wave goodbye.  The natural thing that happens next is being in contact with that friend,  getting to know more about each other and so on.  But, if after that day,  you do not get in contact with the friend,  it will seem like you never met the person.
Now,  Who are we talking about?
A friend that sticks closer than a brother.  When you accepted him as your Lord and personal saviour,  he became your friend,  and he is waiting to chat with you,  he’s waiting to hear about your sorrows,  your pains,  he wants to know more about you,  and the only way to making that happen is by getting to know him.
That is where,  the bridge to knowing Jesus comes in.
A bridge connects two different parts together,  it’s creates a way to the other side.
So,  in other to know Jesus,  and to be sure you are friends with him,  the following things are needed; (because you can’t just sit in your house believing that you are friends with someone when you haven’t even spoken with them for weeks,  you have to be in contact to solidify the friendship).
1. Hebrews 10:25, says;
Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Not forsaking the assembling of believers,  attend church services,  a Bible believing church,  where the raw word of God is preached, and after hearing the word,  Go back to the Bible and check every word. Acts 17:11 (like the biblical Berea,  who made sure to search the scriptures daily,  to know if the word they heard were so)
2. Prayer
The Bible says,  pray without ceasing 1 thess 5:17, the most wonderful and easiest way to talk to our friend,  JESUS, is by praying,  it connects us to him,  and we can pour our heart to him,  and talk to him as a friend, (it is like chatting or calling your friend on the phone, the only difference is faith,  believe he is there listening to you, believe he loves you,  that you were not excluded from the list of the people he came to die for).
You don’t need to stress,  just pray.
3. Praise and worship
Praise the Lord,  praise God at any chance you get,  it makes him happy,  it’s our own way of saying Thank You.  Unlike humans which we can see and give gifts too,  God doesn’t need material gifts all he needs his praises. Rom. 15:11, Hebrews 13:15, tells us about praising the name of the Lord,  even in;
Rev.19:5: And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
Praising God is being grateful,  it’s like sending a thank you card or gift to a friend for being there,  and this friend wasn’t just being a friend,  he loved you,  even when you were not looking, when you didn’t notice,  he also protects you,  he makes promises to you and keeps it.
So it is a good thing to praise him,  we shouldn’t be like those in John 12:43, who loved the praise of men rather than the praise of God.
4. The Word of God
The most important way to knowing Jesus is reading his word, which his the Bible,  the Bible is also called the owner’s manual, this is where we can find God’s promises,  stories about Jesus, (it’s like reading the biography of a friend, you get to know him more)  how he is like,  what he likes,  what he dislikes,  so you won’t make him angry, and you get to keep your friendship forever.
Joshua 1:8, says;
This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
The book, which is the Word of God,  not only teaches you but makes you successful,  prosperous in all you do.
It also have answers to any questions you have in your heart, just the way you would understand it.
2tim. 2:15; Study The Word Of God today.
God bless you.

Books are my dearest companion in my alone days. And they will always be.
